By the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime, 2007

In March 2007, the Ministers of Justice and Public Safety announced the creation of the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime to ensure the federal government meets its responsibilities to victims of crime. As part of its mandate, the Office identifies emerging issues that impact negatively on victims of crime and makes recommendations to Parliament based on those issues and the principles set out in the Canadian Statement of Basic Principles of Justice for Victims of Crime.
