I spent international "Because I am a Girl" (BIAAG) Day at the launch of the BIAAG Report by CPP in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

At the top table were the partners in this research – the host organization Obra do Berca (an NGO based in a Favela), Plan Brazil, CPP and 4 young girls aged 11-13 (two from Favela and two from a private school).

For children, the Internet is both a classroom and a virtual playground—a place to learn, connect with friends,experience new things and have fun. But just as cities and towns have places that are unsafe or inappropriatefor children and teenagers, there are places in the online world that can expose kids to inappropriate activitiesand content. Kids can also encounter adults or even other children who could pose a threat.
 
 

Plan released a new report called ICT Enabled Development: Using ICT strategically to support Plan's work. The report is part of an on-going process by Plan Finland in collaboration with Plan USA to support Plan's country offices in Africa to use ICTs strategically and effectively in their development work.

This article, written by KJ Mitchell , D Finkelhor, and J Wolak and published in 2007, explores changes in the prevalence of youth Internet users reporting unwanted sexual solicitations between 2000 and 2005, as well as the risk factors related to reports of the most serious solicitations, aggressive solicitations, in which solicitors attempted or made offline contact with youth.
