ICT Child Protection Exposition - Thailand

Klong Toey, Thailand When developing their Circle of Rights action plan, children in Klong Toey, Thailand decided to focus their efforts on educating their friends and family about what they had learned about ICT child protection through their involvement in CPP.
They held the event on December 19, 2009 at HDF Mercy Centre’s Community Christmas party, and approximately 250 children and adults attended the event. Participants learned about ICT and child protection through fun and informative activities showcasing six stories on child protection and ICT, a definition of ICT developed by the children, and also ICT risks and strengths in their community.
"We need to create awareness about the situation of ICT.
We need to use it in a positive way" (Girl, Grongpinung).
The event enabled children and young people to demonstrate their knowledge of ICT child protection and help others in the community to understand the influence ICT can have on daily life. Adults and children left the expo with a renewed understanding about what is important to Thai youth using ICT and gained new insight on ICT based on the knowledge shared by the child participants!
