The Federal Highway Police (PRF) oversees more than 61,000 km of federal highways and roads, ensuring the safety of those who use the federal highway system. The police also collaborate with public safety in preventing and suppressing human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children, and slavery, among other things.

Child prostitution and trafficking is a probem in Brazil that is in particular linked to the transport industry (especially in the North). The Highway police in Maranhão State are a key partner and have been involved in some of the Circle of Rights child-led solutions. They collaborated with the children and adolescents in their efforts to raise awareness about ICT and child sexual exploitation within the transport industry.
