Brazil to adopt legal ban on corporal punishment of children

Brazília - The announcement that Brazil is very close to enacting a total prohibition of corporal punishment of children came during a seminar on legislative responses against corporal punishment of children and adolescents, held in the House of Representatives of Brazil.

New U.S. Bill Requires ISPs to Keep 18-months Records

A bipartisan bill introduced on Wednesday in the U.S. House of Representatives will require Internet service providers to retain subscriber information for up to 18 months to assist federal law enforcement in investigations into online child pornography and child exploitation cases.

Facebook Uses PhotoDNA to Detect Child Porn

Facebook has started using an image-matching technology (created by Microsoft) known as PhotoDNA, which allows it to detect evidence of child exploitation by scanning users' photos. The social networking giant will use the technology to prevent "child abuse material" from being uploaded and distributed by users on its website.

On Tuesday, April 5th, CPP Brazil, in partnership with the Paramitas Institute ran the first testing of an interactive game designed to educate children about the risks of the Internet, at Obra do Berco in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 
 

 

Thai ICT Curriculum Revised for Community Use

The Thai curriculum revising meeting and training session was held on 22 March, 2011 at the Social Development Centre, Unit 12, in Mae Chun, Chiang Rai to discuss the development of the ICT and child proection curriculum. The focus of the meeting was on the adjustment of the curriculum used for school so that the curriculum could be used at the local community level.
