Canadian Mounted Police lead charge on child sexual exploitation

Bangkok - Canadian police have launched a campaign with their Thai counterparts to use the internet to protect children from sexual exploitation in cyberspace, officials said Monday.
 
'Our intention is to create a web of partners who can provide protection for children,' said Suzanne Williams, director of the Canada-based Child Protection Partnership (CPP).

Fijian youth urged to use media positively

There is a need for young people to use the media wisely while at the same time, critically analyse what comes out of it.
 
Fiji Media Watch media monitoring co-ordinator, Fulori Turaga said educating young people was part of their advocacy program from 2010 to 2013.
 
This follows a presentation to students of Ahmadiyya Muslim College on Thursday. "We've noticed schoolchildren and youths who are bombarded with what comes out of the media," she said.

New mobile phone app identifies predatory adults posing as children

The idea your child may be being secretly groomed on the internet by a predatory paedophile is every parent’s worst nightmare.

But now scientists have developed a new mobile phone application which is designed to identify adults posing as children.
 
They say the software - called Child Defence - enables children to scan webchat on their mobile phones to check the age of people they are messaging.
