Curriculum Introduced at Mae Salong Mountain School

CPP Thailand hosted an ICT Child Protection Workshop at Santikhiri Withayakom School, located in the beautiful scenic region of Mae Salong Mountain, Chiang Rai province, on September 11-12, 2010.

27 teachers from various subjects including ICT, Sciences, Social Sciences, Thai and English, Physical Education, Mathematics, Home Economics, as well as three student leaders, of Santikhiri Withayakom School participated in a training workshop on ICT Child Protection Curriculum.

The workshop aimed to introduce the CPP draft curriculum on ICT and Child Protection. Research content and student activities sheets on an assessment of online and mobile phone risks, personal information protection, safe online chats and how to protect oneself from online risks were given to, and discussed with, the participants.

Teachers also presented their project ideas on how to promote online safety. They have also discussed child rights and protection in connection with ICT use. Topics of discussion also included the positives aspects of the Internet, the creative use of online technologies (such as short film production), the do's and don’t of Internet use, and making use of social networking.
