CPP Thailand Showcase Event: Celebrating Success

The Child Protection Partnership (CPP) organized a showcase event that brought together child protection experts, government officials, law enforcement and students  in Bangkok, Thailand on June 22, 2011 to discuss the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on child sexual exploitation and child protection.

CPP and Communities meet to Review Progress in Chiang Rai, Thailand

CPP and Plan Thailand have been working in Chiang Rai province in the North of Thailand to promote the safe use of ICT in the villages of Saen Suk and Saen Jai, in particular encouraging the two communities to take part in developing preventative measures against ICT enabled child sexual exploitation, with input from young people.

CPP Thailand Showcase Event: ICT and Child Protection in Southeast Asia

Child Protection experts, government officials, law enforcement and students came together in Bangkok, Thailand in June to discuss the impact of ICT on child sexual exploitation. The showcase event was organized by the Child Protection Partnership at the Foreign Correspondent Club of Thailand, with support from CPP's executing agency, International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD), and CPP partner Plan International.

Tweeting Change: Celebrating Social Media Day 2011

Today, June 30, is Social Media Day! It is time to reflect on and celebrate the role that social media plays in our lives. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have been making big waves on and offline during the past few years. Hundreds of millions of people around the world have been using these sites to stay connected to their friends and families and to follow entertainment figures, news organizations, businesses and NGOs in their daily activities. In some countries, like the United States, social networking sites now dominate people’s Internet use.

CPP in Thailand for Showcase Event

CPP Project Manager Chris Yeomans is in Thailand, where he attended a showcase event hosted by CPP and its Thai partners on June 22. At the event, CPP unveiled the Circle of Rights Thailand report. This report focuses on how the CPP and its partners used the Circle of Rights process in three Thai communities to create positive ICT child protection strategies.

Thai ICT Curriculum Revised for Community Use

The Thai curriculum revising meeting and training session was held on 22 March, 2011 at the Social Development Centre, Unit 12, in Mae Chun, Chiang Rai to discuss the development of the ICT and child proection curriculum. The focus of the meeting was on the adjustment of the curriculum used for school so that the curriculum could be used at the local community level.

 

Canadian Study Tour Delegation on Policy and Law Enforcement Visits Pattaya

On March 4, 2011, the Canadian delegation of the CPP Policy and Law Enforcement Study Tour, including CPP Director and Deputy & Legal Director of IICRD, Suzanne Williams, met with police officials of the Children and Women Protection Centre of Police Region 2 of the Royal Thai Police, representatives from Pattaya City and governmental and non-governmental organizations at the Banglamung Police Station, in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand.

 

NICFD and IICRD-CPP sign MOU

An inter-institutional agreement between the National Institute for Child and Family Development (NICFD) and the International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) was signed and celebrated on April 4, 2011 at the University of Victoria in Canada. 

 

Royal Thai Police Technology Crime Suppression Division visits with CPP

The delegates of the Policy and Law Enforcement Study Tour from Canada, CPP Director, Suzanne Williams, and representatives from the RCMP visited the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) of the Royal Thai Police on March 3, 2011.

 

TCSD briefed the delegation on the overview of their operations, associated agencies, challenges on suppression of ICT crimes and relevant legislation.
