Engaging Young People in the Safe and Creative Use of ICT

Developed by the CPP Team of IICRD and Plan Thailand, this curriculum is intended to help educators and other caring adults engage young people in Thailand so they can maximize opportunities for positive and creative use of ICT, while mitigating and minimizing risks.

This resource is available in a working draft in English and a complete curriculum in Thai.

Media Awareness Network

Media Awareness Network (MNet) is a Canadian non-profit organization that has been pioneering the development of media literacy and digital literacy programs since its incorporation in 1996. Working out of Ottawa, Canada, MNet promotes media literacy and digital literacy by producing education and awareness programs and resources, working in partnership with Canadian and international organizations, and speaking to audiences across Canada and around the world.

 

Kids Help Phone: Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying can happen day or night. You might turn off your phone and computer, but the hurtful messages will be waiting for you the moment you turn them back on. Being a target is scary and isolating. Many teens are afraid to tell anyone they’re being cyberbullied because they’re afraid they will lose their online privileges. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can choose to be safe.

Cyberstalking refers to harassment or unwanted communication via some form of technology including computers, global positioning systems (GPS), cell phones, cameras and more. The National Center for Victims of Crime (USA) defines cyberstalking as “threatening behavior or unwanted advances directed at another using the Internet and other forms of online and computer communications.”
